Catchy title? I like to use "streaks" as motivation. For the purpose of this forum, I'm seeing if anyone would like to keep track of their own personal streak along with me.

Here's the rules (quite simple) - If you do an activity that you have set aside as exercise, training, or a workout - it's a streak day. To be considered a "Streak Day" the activity should be no less than 20 minutes. As long as you complete one of these sessions in 24 hours, it counts. It doesn't matter if you walk, run, cycle, or crawl. But it must be an activity you set aside purposely for exercise (no - not mowing the lawn).

To get started, just respond to this post. I'll keep track of all the "streakers" every few days. My next post is an example of what you can do. You can say as much as as little as you like. Unfortunately, if you BUST, you must admit it and go back to "0". A BUST is when you miss a day. To be fair to those who already have long streaks already going, the streak date begins September 1st. To get started, count the number days in a row you have done an activity 20 minutes or more since September 1st, 2007. For example, mine is 13.

Note - Do not respond here! Find this discussion topic in the Lobby and respond now and from now on... that's where you will find the "main post" for streakers.

I'm a relatively new runner, but have a few races behind me and a 10 miler and a few half marathons in the fall. I"m doing about a 10 minute mile during training, tend to be faster in races. My goal is general fitness and to finish the races in a decent time. So speed isn't really on my agenda. Am I losing any benefits by not running faster?

I have been running for about 3 months now and am on a training program in the book "Marathon and Half Marathon: The Beginner's Guide". The problem is that I have developed pain in the inside of my right thigh from my groin to my knee. At first it was only painful after my runs and not during. Now, it bothers me all the time. I have tried taking 3 days off instead of just 1 and it just doesn't seem to be healing. As a matter of fact, after the rest, my next run was the worst ever and I had to cut it short because of the discomfort.

I just wanted to drop a note to say thanks, and great job!

This site is vastly superior to any of the competitors I have tried... you offer (for free, no less!!) a more user friendly interface, better data input, and the majority of the features available on sites that want $20 PER MONTH to use.

Fantastic job...keep up the great work and I will keep supporting the sponsors. If I need to do my shopping online with REI, Accelerade, PerformanceBike, etc in order to keep the use of MapMyEtc free and easy, well, I think that is a fair trade.

Thanks again,

Quick questions for you women out there. I have a garmin 305 heart rate monitor. Love it, but am having problems getting the heart monitor to stay in place when I run. I usually keep in under my breast, but it slips down and it rubs with my sports bra. I've tried the monitor over my breats, but the monitor doesn't seem to keep the connection. I've seen a few sports bra by polaris on the internet that allows you to thread the monitor through. Has anyone tried that? Help?

I just wanted to share a great find, something to use for marathon training! It's like having a running coach right beside you and has good music too. I just downloaded it from the site. If you're training for the marathon, I suggest volumes 2 and 3, as the first one is more greaed to walking/jogging. Each workout is about 50 minutes, which I find really kicks my butt! Check it out for yourself, and good luck in the marathon! Link follows :)

When plotting courses in which paths are parallel, or repeat (though not so-much as to use the out-and-back or loop option), it is difficult to tell which direction you should be going at a time.

See http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/md/brooklyn-park/1080105180 as an example: Someone that is not famaliar with the course would have trouble understanding, especially between 2, 3 and 4 mile markers.

Perhaps the blue line, which represents the path, could have a type of directional arrow inlaid into the line?

I have an Axiom Travel Trac bike trainer. It connects to my computer and I can customize the "course" that I'm training on. I can even ride portions of The Tour de France on video at the speed I am riding. More like a simulator than just a trainer, it's very cool. It increases resistance as I approach hills, and lessens resistance as you ride down these hills. however, I'd like to be able to program local rides that I have done. Like export from MMR into the RealAxiom program. However, it receives info in Excel spreadsheet format. Does anyone know how I can get the info from one to the other???

I thought it would be interesting to open up the floor to something that probably isn't always thought of when you run. That is how running is good for your mind.

I am not a long distance runner. I am not even built for running. I don't think my body was even designed to run. One of the big reasons why I do run is that is allows me to free myself from all the stresses in my life for 30 minutes. I don't have my cell phone. I don't have to worry about anything other than my pace and listening to what my body is doing.

In a way...I am washing my mind of anything that might have been in there before. It is like meditation. Just you getting in tune with your body. I don't even wear a watch to see where I am at. I know my route and I run it comfortably and sometimes push it a bit so I have to actually concentrate on the run and only the run. Pushing it a little helps me take my mind off of what I might be tempted to think about and just zone in on the rythm. The pace. The moment. I am lost in the physical act of running.

By the time the run is complete I am physically drained and my mind has been properly cleansed because I have just spent 30 minutes getting to know my body. Arriving back to my home I can start with a clean slate. Refreshed. Energized. Ready to take on my world.

How does running affect you in this way? Maybe running just makes you happy to be alive. More confident. Maybe it even just makes you thankful that you have your health and that you CAN run. Not everyone can say that. Your health is a gift. Use it.

Take care.

One of the systems that we rely on to save route data to suffered some intermittent failures during the day today and as a result, some routes that were saved today may have lost their data. According to our analysis, we expect the number of routes lost to be very low, but some were indeed lost.

We sincerely apologize for this. If you saved a route yesterday, please check to see that that the route is viewable. If not, you should delete it from your profile and re-plot.

Note that this same failure also causes all viewing of routes to be broken for a period of about 1 hour today, and if you tried and failed to view a saved route today, it is probably not lost and it should work now.

As far as we can tell, our systems are back to their full and normal operations, but we're continuing to closely monitor the situation.

Again, we sincerely apologize for any trouble this may have caused.

Hi. I'm new here and I'm lost. Let me be honest, I like Triathlon training and competing but I'm not crazy about Triathletes. I haven't competed in a race in several years. I've been competing in MMA fights and traing for those. Due to a thumb injury, I've been forced to take some time off from fighting. So here I am.

This sight looks great but I have no idea how to use it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I primarily want to be able to track my miles and routes without having to go out in my car. I also want to be able to get the most out of the training log.

Thanks in advance for your help.
