For those that train with music, what is your "go to" song? The song that you play when you need that little extra at the end of a workout that helps you push you past that limit you're used to.

My top 3 are:

Quarshi - Stick Em Up
The Mooney Suzuki - Alive & Amplified
Queen - I Want It All

When it comes to a Virtual Tour what would you say are the significant mile marker acheivements? 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, each 1000 from there up?

For those of you who curiously stumble opun this thread check out the group to find out what a Virtual Tour is.

Hey VT Group Members,

Just wanted to toot my horn by saying I'll be running the Hatfield-McCoy Marathon this Saturday. Wish me luck as this will put me over the 100 mile marker on my trek across the US.

Is your group just for runners? I don't want to throw off the group stats by cranking out 100 miles/week on my bike if everyone else is running. God bless ya, but I don't have the running gene.

Ok, so I'm just curious what everyone uses to log their miles. Take this as a braggging fest for your equipment, or your list of what you use until you get the ability to get better equipment. Just a simple little fun to see what everyone is using...

I'll start.

For swimming - nothing fancy. TYR swim shorts, speedo goggles, generic hand paddles, and a sportcount lap counter (makes counting so easy).

For biking - my mountain bike is the college hand-me-down that has served well. Walmart glory that cost $100. I've put some upgrades on it, painted it, and attempted to make it more comfortable, but it's nowhere near what I'm wanting. I currently do not have a road bike just yet, but am saving for one. I have my eye on a TREK 1.2 or TREK 1.5. So for my bike miles, I'm logging them on the precor trainer at the local YMCA.

For running - I have a trusty pair of Nike Structure Triax 10+ with Powerstep Insoles. They currently have nearly 250mi on them and are starting to show some signs of destruction. Great shoes though.

I'm still in the market for a HRM and a road bike. Once those two come in, I'll be good to go and will be ready for some serious mile logging.

So, what kind of gear do you sport?

I think that the elevation stats are more interesting to look at on these long map routes. What is your VT highest elevation. Here are my stats so far:

max:287ft min:13ft ascent:299ft descent:198ft

Fantastic idea. I am a marathoner and hit a lull in my training and this is the kind of thing that should help me get excited about my runs again. I already keep a running log for mileage and how I feel during each run so this shouldn't be too hard to keep updated. Also floating the idea to blog about my virtual run by doing a little research on some of the places I will be "running" through and keep anyone interested up to date on my progress. I'll post that here once I get a few running entries up. Once again great idea and hope to see some of you out there when I get further south.

I hope to get at least one more ride in this Memorial Day weekend, but then I go on vacation in California for 2 weeks without the bike. Can you believe I'm actually bummed that I can't make any virtual progress for 2 weeks? Nah,
I didn't think you'd believe that :-)

Ok, so I've saved my virtual route under my profile as a public run, but is there another way I need to upload it to this group?

You tell me how to get you the map and I'll be glad to do what I can. The current url is http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/al/birmingham/337708416457

Any other way you want me to upload it?
