    Hey... where's Leandra?

Leandra does not check her email very often so, therefore, probably doesn't know I invited her (although I think I told her about it). I'll have to tell her again.

Sometimes the spam catchers get it. Send her the link? (cut and paste off the invite page) Hope your back feels better!

Back feels abit better (at least I can bend over and stand back up easier). Did weights and abs today... very carefully. I'll call Leandra and tell her to check her email.

I did it...purchased bike shoes.  There was great debate in my head but I have resolved that I have this sort of involuntary purple thing going on with the bike outfit.  I ordered the Adidas women's Diva MTB shoes.  I couldn't find much for reviews on them so we'll see.  They had my size, were 50% off, and maybe there was some sick destiny in matching the purple daisy helmet...which I initially bought as sort of a joke for myself but now it appears to be the center of my universe.  One must not fight the power of purple, I suppose. : )  I am a Husky.
Okay, so I'm also officially registered for the Worst Day of the Year Ride.  Have we figured out the costume thing yet?  Do you remember that movie Mystery Men....the guy who threw silverware and the super bowler chick.  Crazy superheroes could be fun.  We could pay hommage to our group name?

Hey, yeah, you could be Super Purple Girl (or Super Grape?--no, that brings to mind the Fruit of the Loom guys)! Congrats on the shoe purchase! Gosh, if we could just get you into spandex bike shorts and a form-fitting jersey....okay, just kidding Laughing. If, when you feel up to it (syncopy and all) , you want to go for a ride and practice the whole clip in/clip out thing, let me know. I'd be happy to go with you (pick you up off the ground if necessary--again, just kidding).

Yes, practice the clip in a nice soft grassy area... ooopphhhff.

Me in bike gear is costume enough. Me in pink is costume enough. Maybe just a pink theme? I am gravitating more toward pink to have my own identity in this house of boys.  Matt also likes to "borrow" lots of MY stuff, maybe not so much if it is pink?

Funny, just the opposite is true for me. Me in bike gear is normal attire. Me in regular clothing, somewhat of a costume. Pink theme is okay for me although purple seems to be speaking to Leandra (it's saying, " Wear me. I am the best! Pink is nothing!"). Why do you think my DS is pink???

Yeah, I forgot about the DS, you are in the same boat as me. Although we could do purple, pink, and BABY BLUE.   Not only would we be girly, we would represent the 80's quite well.  And honestly, leg warmers would actually serve a purpose for this particular occasion. We already have to taper our pants- and if I do up my bangs like I did back in the day, I wouldn't even NEED a helmet. AquaNet to the rescue! I even have an old bike radio we might be able to rig up (sorta like Mc Gyver) to blast Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, or Prince for Leandra.

Leg Warmers! What a great idea! I'll be on the lookout for some (maybe Goodwill). Fun and functional!

Amy, you can pass onto Stephanie that I have made reservations at the Travelodge (949 E. Burnside). It is less than a mile from the start. The cost for the night is $51.13 (I signed up for this trial period of some travel thing and got $30.00 off. Otherwise is was $82.13--I'll just cancel it as soon as I get the materials). There are 2 queen beds. I talked to Mary Beth and she is considering doing the ride. She would do the 18 mile course. She'll think about it.

Leg warmers are actually back in, I believe.  I'm sure I've seen them...in stores, but not on actual people yet.  Mascot = Cyndi Lauper?

I used to be a BOLD HOLD girl, myself.  Snow would pile up on my bangs while skiing and melt, and yet my bangs held in perfect form.  Really, the 80's are why there is no ozone.

Amy, maybe you should run that Aquanet helmet by the bike shop guy, just for fun, but make sure you take the helmet cam because you know his expression will be priceless.  It screams Mastercard commercial.  You may have a million dollar idea there.  Everything else is disposable these days so why not a spray-on helmet.  Having perfect hair is very big with some people...you may even increase biking participation as an off-shoot of your fabulous product.  If only the breathability issue could be conquered.

Perhaps we could put our helmets on and pull our hair out through the holes then curl/spray it into place ala the Farrah Fawcett Helmet!! Although, taking it off could be painful. We could be Charlie's Angels!!!...without Charlie...who needs him...they never saw him anyway.

Mary Beth is doing the ride so I am going to send her an invite to join our exclusive group of Super Biker Women's Friends.

Per the email, ride weather is supposed to be great.  Sounds like somebody might be doing the 40-miler after all.  Maybe MB could be talked into doing the 40 too....under the influence of Farrah-hair hairspray fumes, everything is negotiable.

Ooh, now I have 2 other signed on for the 18. IF it's fabulous I wonder what they would say.... Undecided. You remember Jill from our New Years ride, she's in and so is Shanon, whom you haven't met yet. Still awaiting the decision of 2 more...  this is going to be fun! Lots of Ladies!

Mary Beth is set on the 18. Probably good for her first organized ride experiance. Although she would be capable of the 45. Looking forward to the food, fun and friends!!!
