I just bought a Forerunner 305.  I selected Map New Run then Import from GPS Device.  The first time, I was prompted to install the Garmin Communicator Plugin, which I did.  I went to the Garmin test page, and it recognized my Forerunner and said the plugin was correctly installed.  Now when I go to MapMyRun and try to import, there is only a blank screen area where the Google Earth map is usually embedded.  Nothing else happens.  I tried uninstalling and re-installing with no luck.  I tried disabling my virus software, but that also did not help.  I am using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.02 SP2.  I have no other issues with functionality on the site.

     Thanks!!

I believe I read somewhere that the plug in was designed to work with firefox, I haven't tried using IE, but it works just fine for me with firefox.  Give it a shot

OK, I just read another post that said the feature does not really work with Microsoft Internet Explorer.  The recommended browser is Mozilla Firefox.  Just go to Google and search for Firefox.  Then download and install the free browser.  You do not have to uninstall or delete Internet Explorer.  I installed Firefox, went to mapmyrun.com and it immediately found my Garmin Forerunner 305 and all the stored tracks.  I was really suprised at how accurately my runs match up with the google earth maps on MapMyRun.  The runs are dead on.  Today's run showed 6.33 miles on my Forerunner and 6.28 miles once I imported to MapMyRun.

Thanks APDuncan27.  You beat me to the post.  I was being too verbose perhaps..

I too am having trouble with importing from my Forerunner 305. I have the Garmin Communicator plug in installed and it the test page says it is working properly. Yet when I go to import in mapmyride it acts as if the plugin isn't there.

I'm on an intel Mac (10.4.11) with Firefox 2.0.0.3. I also tried Safari and the Garmin test page says it's working fine there, but the same effect.

Is this feature supported for the Mac yet?

I think I am having the same problem.

    • Forerunner 305 installed and working properly via USB cable with Garmin Training Center - all routes, runs, data showing up as they should
    • Mac OSX 10.5.1
    • Garmin Communicator plug-in installed using both Safari and Firefox  (both latest versions)
    • Garmin Communicator test page indicates that plug-in is working properly with both browsers
    • With Map New Run/Import/From Garmin GPS, I get a "Load data from Garmin GPS" dialog box which says that the version is a beta version with problems in IE but working well with Firefox and that my browser doesn't support Garmin Communicator plug-in.  Blank map screen otherwise.
    • When I go through the recommended gpx file conversion recommended on maymyrun and the instructions on gpsies site, gpsies converts the garmin course file to a gpx file.  I then do Map New Run/Import/From GPX file and select the gpx file downloaded from gpsies.  It appears to begin to create a new map, but then the same "Load data from Garmin GPS" dialog box comes up along with the blank map screen.

Loads of new data on my Forerunner 305 which I now can't use on my Mac/mapmyrun.  Any suggestions or help on the way?

I used to very easily upload my runs from my Forerunner to MapMyRun on my PC (windows and firefox).  I now have a Mac and understand that it doesnt work on Mac OSX yet.  I found old comments saying they were waiting for the Garmin communicator for Mac and then they would add it to MapMyRun.  It appears that the communicator for Mac is working just fine so I am hoping that they integrate that into this site real soon!  I loved doing it on my old computer it was a great feature!
