For a while now my browser does not remember I asked it to remember my login (with the checkbox on the MapMyRun login page). However, I just realized today that if I go to the page, leave, and then go back then it does remember that I asked it to keep me logged in!!
This is a bit strange. Is there some reason it is not working whenever I first go to the page? (And stranger still, works if I leave and come immediately back?)
I noticed the same thing. Then I realized that, despite the site asking me for my log in information, I was actually logged in already. Instead of re-typing my log in information I just clicked on my training and it took me there. Maybe the login request is there in case you want to log in a different account. Admittedly its a little confusing. You might want to double check that.
I wonder if these comments may actually be just related to my pet-peeve... The auto-login page is really confusing. If my session has timed out, I get a login page that says basically:
You must be logged in for this page
SUCCESS! You are already logged in, go to your profile...
The regular "existing users login here" and "new users register here" boxes below.
Note, the "SUCCESS" :) I am really logged in, and it should just take me to the page I originally requested.
I've been using the site for several weeks and that still confuses me. The site navigation is also broken, because it doesn't change (much) when I am logged in. RIght now I have a big "Member login" yellow button above the right hand side ads, and the links across the top include "Become a member" and "Member login."
Maybe it's a Safari/Mac issue :) But it really ought to also say "Logged in as travieso" across the top instead of "Member login."
Maybe that the real problem in the thread? You keep seeing the box to login with your username and password, and are missing the confusing "SUCCESS" box? The page is very busy, I wouldn't be surprised!
I've been seeing the exact same behavior, and I'm using Vista. So, it's definitely not a Mac thing.
I agree it's annoying and should be fixed. But a quick workaround (aside from leaving and coming back, as mentioned earlier) is to just refresh the page. It seems like one of the frames of the site is not reading the cookie (or something) properly until the page reloads.
Hah! Yeah, I really didn't think it was a Mac thing. Of course, you didn't say whether you were using Safari 3 for WIndows :)
I'll try your "just reload the page" trick the next time it happens, but that's what the website should be doing for me :) But thanks for chiming in that it wasn't just me.
