    Hello,

I just need some help in advance, before I go to the doctor tomorrow.

4 weeks ago I started my marathon training and all was good until last sunday after a 30 km run! Directly after the run everything was fine and I felt great! In the evening when I got up from the sofa my inner part of the feet near the achilles hurts. It was a burning pain. Yesterday I had a day off and today I tried to run, but I can´t and broke it up!

Is anybody who is familiar with this situation? What have you done?

     Thank you!

     Best wishes

     Matthias

It sounds like an overpronation issue to me, or maybe running on uneven surfaces. Maybe this is stretching the Achilles tendon and causing pain. I would recommend you see a sports injury specialist who can analyse your gait and recommend a particular type of shoe. In my experience doctors will just tell you to ease off on training which is not what you want to hear when training for a marathon. Find a specialist who is a runner themselves or has experience treating runners. Dont be afraid to call around and find the right person to advise you as you can waste a lot of money going to the wrong people.

    Good luck!

    Dave.
