I just bought a TREK Pilot with Sora Shifters ...and am not sure if I will like them. I would like to know if anyone has thumb shifters and if you like them... or should I trash them and switch them out - NOW

They are okay. The thumb shifter is hard to reach while in the drops. Otherwise they get the job done. Tiagra gets you a paddle shifter but feels harsh. 105 is tinny feeling but smoother. Ultegra feels smooth and natural. Dura ace is buttery.

Go back to the bike shop and try them out. Then you'll know for yourself.

I ride with Soras - they were the only integrated shifter I could find for an older, 7-speed cassette.  I don't spend a lot of time on the drops, so they're great for me.  Easy to shift with barely any movement while on the hoods.  The paddle for downshifting has a bit of play, but overall I'm pretty happy with them.
