This just started happening a few days ago.  In Firefox (Windows and Linux), when I try to create or view a route, the map applet begins to load but then all I get are the map controls (which are unresponsive) and a blank area.  Can anyone help me resolve this?  It works fine using IE in Windows and Opera in Linux.  The site worked perfectly before.  Thanks!

I've been using FF for years on both XP and Win2K. It works fine for me.

I'm having the same problem. It worked fine as recently as yesterday but doesn't work today in FF. Works ok in IE Tab in FF, though.

Are you having any problems accessing Google Maps or other Google apps outside of the MapMyRun site? Maybe it's a Google issue.

Everything Google works fine for me outside of MapMyRide.  I have no clue what the issue could be.

Same as demtber...Even Bikely's map applet works. It's just here that fails to load.

    Hey Guys-

I'd like to try and help if you're having issues loading the site in Firefox.  Firefox is actually the browser that we recomend and use the most here internally, and we haven't been experiencing problems.

To try and narrow down the problem, can you please link me to the exact URL (from your browser bar) that you are trying to access?  Additionally, can you try clearing your browser's cache, and reloading the site to see if it helps?  In Firefox, you can do this from the tools menu, and select "clear private data".

This is a screen-grab from what I see after I closed cleared the private data, closed FF, and restarted it.

The URL is "http://www.mapmyfitness.com/create" or any URL with the map applet.

I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.12 and the applet fails to load. When I use the IE Tab add-on, the applet loads fine.

I have no other problems with Google Maps, or Google Maps-fed services (Bikely).

It happens when trying to view any route, or trying to create a new route (http://www.mapmyride.com/create, etc.)

     Clearing the cache didn't help.

You beat me to the screen capture; I was just doing that.  Mine looks exactly the same.  I'm also using FF 2.0.0.12 on Windows, and I'm not sure what version on Linux (I'm not at home right now.)

Can you guys with problems try to load the site with the firefox error console showing (Tools->Error Console)?

If you see any errors, copy and paste them here.

FYI, I have seen that symptom happen before, which is due to one of our script files not being able to load. Can you load [edited, deleted] directly in your browser?

Here's what pops up in the error console when I load the 'Create Ride' page:

    http://i28.tinypic.com/9hhsvl.png

The script file, when I click on it, just comes up as a bunch of text. Should I be 'running' it somehow?

    demtber-

That is the correct error console, but can you repeat with just the "errors" button selected?  This will help me, thanks.

    Jeff,

MapMyRun worked fine for me. Showed me the maps and everything.

Can I log into MapMyRun using the same credentials as MapMyFitness? Will my routes be available there?

I see that I can and that they do. I ran through the MapMyRide site, too, and the maps fail there but work on MapMyRun.

MapMyRun works for me.  Also, when I select just the "errors", nothing comes up in the console.

Are either of you folks using firefox extensions that blocks ads?  The reason I was asking about mapmyrun vs mapmyride is because we recently added a new ad provider on those sites, so if you're not loading their scripts the site may break.

    Jeff,

I use AdBlock Plus for FireFox. Do you think this would cause the breakage?

    Thomas-

I think there's a good chance.  Can you do an A/B comparison test with it enabled/disabled on mapmyride.com and report the results?

     thanks,

    jeff

With AdBlock disabled, the map now works. Odd that it would not affect MapMyRun, though.  Thanks for your help in resolving this.

Same as demtber, it works fine with AdBlock Plus disabled.

So, my question now is: How do I configure AdBlock to not block the map window?

That's probably not a question likely to be answered by an ad-supported website...

Yeah, I hope you guys understand that we can't endorse or support the use of adblockers while using our site.  We'd like the keep the servers on :-).

Of course.  This really is a great website, especially at no cost.  Thanks for helping me out; I didn't think of AdBlock because it had worked before.

Thomasbrock, you can set AdBlock to be disabled for just MapMyRide.com, so you don't have to switch it on and off going to and from the site.
