    Hi,

    I started using creatine as a supplement and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this?  I just visited my family physician who told me a have an irregular heartbeat (which I'm going for an echo for later today).  This also explains why I can't get my blasted Own Index to work on my Polar monitor.  Anyhow ............  is there any possible way that creatine could cause this?  I read up on it beforehand but did not see anything heart related as an adverse reaction.

    Ask your doctor, but I would guess there is basically zero chance creatine caused your irregular heart beat, it's probably genetic.  Creatine isn't a stimulant so it really shouldn't effect your heart beat at all.

    The one thing you do have to worry about with creatine is dehydration, so make sure you are drinking extra water.

    Well that's good to know APDuncan.  I'm only taking the creatine 4 months out of the year b/c I hear it may be bad for you at high levels / too often.

    Hi there,

     

    I have been taking creatine for almost the entire time that I have ever worked out.  First of all, creatine should not affect your heart at all, the most short term negative effects it has on some is an upset stomach / bloated feeling.  Second, while it really cannot hurt to take creatine for running, and it may help a bit, creatine is made for explosive and intense training, not endurance.  Third, for being concerned about overuse, a better cycle than using it four months of the year would be 6 weeks on, 2-3 weeks off.  Also, if you are only taking the 5g / day serving, and no more, you really should not worry about over usage.

    thanks .... I'll check it out.  That does sound like a better program.  I've gotta see how much I'm taking ...... directions are "2 scoops" each day before working out (it's Muscle Tech Cell-Tech Hardcore).  2 scoops sound about right?
