Help!: Showing Sacramento American River Trail on routes

Howdy,

New to this.  Want to do a route that partially will follow the American River Bike Trail in Sacramento.  In my first effort, I've been unable to get the map to show the bike trail, although there already are mapped routes that do follow the trail, so there must be a way.  How do I get this system/software to reflect that Trail so I can mark it as part of my route?

Here's another idea. The trail is quite visible on the satellite or hybrid view especially if you are familiar with it.
