I received the 210 as a Christmas present (unfortunately no paperwork exists from the gift giver). I have tried to install the software on 3 different computers; all had the same result. When I try to upload maps to the unit, I get an error message that says "unknown hardware." Has anyone had a similar problem? The Magellan web site is useless and since I have no paperwork, they won't talk to me about warranty issues. Any suggestions, other than throwing it in the creek (which I have given serious consideration) or simply using it as a paperweight, will be appreciated.

    Hello Joel,

I'm afraid I don't have the unit myself, but I typed in the problem you had in a google search, and I found a discussion about the same problem with the eXplorist 600.  My apologies for wasting your time if you've already read through this stuff, but the link to the best site I found is here.

Good luck  getting the unit to work, it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

Did you try downloading Mapsend Lite? I had the same problem with the eXplorist 400. My experience with the disk that ships with the eXplorist is that MapSend is a bit buggy. I couldn't connect to the GPS, even when configuring the software to use USB. If you buy the detailed Magellan maps, MapSend Lite will work with those maps as well. You can get it from the following URL: https://www.magellangps.com/products/map.asp?tab=0&PRODID=1717

thanks guys. I did google the problem but did not find the one you were referring to. Also, I have not tried Mapsend Lite.

I'll try both. Thanks... maybe i can get some use out of it.
