I hope you enjoyed yourself in CA Lydia.  I would love to run a marathon in that state one day.  Ran only twice this week cover over 5 miles each time.  Missed my usual Saturday run this morning - could not get out of the house.  It is now 3.45 pm and I am still contemplating going on a run.  If I do not I will set the alarm for 6am Sunday morning and continue with my usual long run.  I think I ate too much today and will definately try to push myself tomorrow.

Had a busy weekend.  Saturday was crazy I meet up with my riding group at 6am to take a team photo, at 8am meet with the Tri class to over the ride and run course for the Sunday Tri event after that at 10am meet up with the Tri club who were go over T1 and T2 when it comes to Tri events.

Sunday was the Tri event which helped with since it's part of the class - a total of 350 indiviuals took part in the event.  When I finally got home I was so tried I had to take a nap.

Today which is Monday I did spin class at 5:30am for an hour after the class decided to get the swim in since I knew I wouldn't have time during my lunch break.

Lydia how far are you from your gym?  I'm up at 5 am and it takes me  55 mins on the A train to downtown Manhattan, so I am at the gym at 6.30 am.  I've being tapering for my Marathon next Sunday - only run 3 to 4 miles this week and have been taking off at least two days.  I normally work-out 7 days no rest, but I want to be ready for the Marathon and have been taking it easy.

The LA Fitness is 15 min drive from my home - which is where I go for the spin class or swim.  Now there is also an LA Fitness from my job which is only 5 min drive thats where I go during lunch to swim.

Hey my husband this past Sunday completed his first Half Ironman - am so prouid of him.  I hope to do it next year if I don't feel am ready then I will do the 1/4 distance.  I have a year to get ready.

You know my family lives in Brooklyn - I received a call on Saturday that my grandmother is in the hospital she is doing ok.

Lydia congrats to your husband (it would be great if my husband could participate in my work out) he hates running..prefers to lift weights.  Sorry to hear about your Grandma - all the best to her.  Made up a little for the short run I did on Sunday, took Tuesday off (rained all day).  Ran one mile on the threadmill and 45 mins spin class.

This morning went to the gym and did 20 laps inthe pool - I surpirsed myself improved on my time normally it's been taking me between 2-0- 25 miles to complete 20 laps - today it took me 16 mins and I felt great.

Taking a break tomorrow since my husband are heading to Tucson for two main reason.   The most important of all is seeing our son who attend college there - the other reason is the three of us are taking part inthe EL Tour De Tucson on Saturday.  My husband and son are doing the 109 miles am doing the 80 miles.

Hi Lydia, how are you?  I feel great now.  The week went great for me the spin instructor decided to instruct for one hour instead of 45 min.  It was a real exhausting spin class because we had to count aloud while riding at the same time.  I took off at 50 min and went up stairs to run for 20 mins.  I was able to cover about 15 miles running during the week.  We are having extreme cold weather in NY and I have been having problems going outside to run due to the wind.  I really do hope to increase my mileage this week.  I wonder how Karen is doing with her work-out she has not posted for a while?  Lydia if I do not post before Thanksgiving enjoy the day with your family.

    Hello Jacquie,

Glad to hear you are still able to work out even if it's not outside because of the weather.  This is the time when I can go workout in the afternoon and the temp. is not over 100.

My husband and son completed 109 miles this past Saturday at the EL Tour of Tucson. I finished the 80 miles but was hoping for better time - riding time was 8 hours and 29 mins with stops and breaks.

On Sunday my husband and I helped at the Ironman Event from 3pm - 9pm - last night we attended a dinner for hosted for the helpers it was really nice.

Jacquie you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving day my husband, son and I will be taking part inTri Event and afterward going over to my daughters for Thanksgiving dinner.

I am so sorry to hear Lydia.  It sad that you have to return to NY under such condition.  Continued with my usual gym training and runs.  I've started a new martial art of some sort it is called Escrima.  I use a stick to fight.

Welcome back Lydia, if I do not post before the holiday.  Be safe, stay warm and continue biking with your family.  Best of Luck for 2009.  Continued with my usual routine...a bit slow but not giving up.  It is the 19th today and I have not completed 56 miles of running for the month.  Hope to do better for next year.

    Jacquie,

The month december was hard month me dealing with my grandmother passing away and getting ready for the holidays.

I started year attending spin class - yesterday I did 600 meter swim.  Haven't been out this morning since I needed to get some things done around house plus waiting until it gets a little warmer outside.  Do plan on going out this afternoon for a 6 mile walk.

Do hope you enjoyed the holiday with family and friends.

Lydia wonderful to hear from you.  I have been missing my usual runs, but I finally ran 8.78 miles today, felt good after the run but my fingers felt like they were on fire from the cold.  I hope for 2009 we will continue to post and exchange fitness details as we did last year.  For 2009 I would like to stay healthy, run the St. Louis, NYC and the Reggae marathons.  Not to mention running numerous half marathons.  Lydia is there any particular race you would like to complete for 2009?

    Hi, an english hopeful here.

I havent tried running yet, want to do it,but fear other peoples reactions.

Over the last 3 yrs I have lost over 140lbs, still have a way to go, over the festive period I have gained weight, even when I felt I was being in control. So i want to find of eating confortably and not gaining weight, this will mean avoiding wheat and learning to enjoy excercise and for some reason I have decided running may be the key for me. The idea of taking part in regular organised runs/races seems to be a good  motivation for me, in my head I have booked myself on a run 10k in May this year, is this a realistic aim?

    Jacquie,

Same here glad to hear from you.  Yes we will keep in touch hoping to make a visit to New York this summer maybe we can finally meet.  I do have plans on doing several Tri Event work myself to Soma which is the 1/2 Ironman - if I feel am not ready this year I will do the 1/4 during the Soma Event.

My swimming is getting so much better.  Today I did 1000 meter swim which took me 30 mins.  Remember when I first started to post how I couldn't even do 300 meters in 30 mins.  Also did 1 hour spin class today - it was a great day for working out.

I am so glad we keep in touch via posting you keep me going.

    Hello English hopeful,

That is wonderful news on your weight lost.  How did you do it?  When I first started really working out I was at 210lbs - currently am at 172 still a long way for my goal of 140lbs.

First thing is take the word out diet out of your mind - it was the biggest mistake I did.  Just watch what you eat I have fish at least 3 times a week not skipping meals.  Do you enjoy cycling?

10k run is a great goal for May - take one step at a time.   Do hope you keep posting.

LEDeYoung It's a pleasure to talk about running to you, It's my favorite subject. I can say that to arrive at any place you need to start with a step. Begin slowly and increase the distance only when you think you are able to. Be patient and follow a schedule without  failling. But remember that something that is easy for me could be different to you. I advice you to trainning, and trainning, and trainning, and the goal will come. Don't forget to be patient. Jacy
