Is your group just for runners?  I don't want to throw off the group stats by cranking out 100 miles/week on my bike if everyone else is running.  God bless ya, but I don't have the running gene.

I hope it's not just running. If so, then I'm out. I'm running, biking, and swimming my distance. I'm just getting off of a running injury, so the other two are the primary distance winners right now. Hopefully all three will be pretty equal.

I don't see any reason this should be a running-only group. The person who originally posted this idea  on the forums cross-trains. Plus, this is not a competition, and even if it were, we are all taking different routes. You have to take elevation differences into account.  Wink

That said, I didn't start this group, so setting the rules is not up to me. This is just my 2 cents, which, with a depreciating dollar, isn't worth nearly as much as it used to be.

    No not at all.

In keeping with the idea of the original thread all training is valid. I was thinking of developing stats based on an idividual basis. So that you could compare your own overall progress. Of course with the more miles you tack on it will be more difficult to acheive a high percentage of increase.  It's still in the works so nothing is set in stone and I am open to suggestions.

It is true that it's not a competition. However, I personally strive on recognition so I thought that it might be cool to have some kind of  award avatar/signature. I was thinking that award avatars/signature could be given in each differing group. Such as: Running, Biking, Cross-Training.

A group is only as good as it's support so your opinion matters. What do you think should be the basis for awarding and new avatar/signature?

Percentage of increase? - This would reward newer members with overall lower mileage.

Map My Fitness Points? - This would reward members with higher activity on MMF

Coolest/Most Scenic Virtual Stop? - This could possibly be a monthly award based on posts that highlight the members route.

This possabilities are Virtually endless. What say you?   _______________________________________________________________________ Floridan

    Return to:  Virtual Tour Group

I will use the mileage as of the last Global map as a baseline for calculating percentage of increase for the Month. I might possibly include a quarterly increase based on mileage from May. So keep up the hard work folks and thanks for being part of the group.

If you have any ideas for goals or whatever you might like to see as part of the group just post and let me know.

P.S. Check out the link to the Motivation Gallery on the group page.
