I'm new to the site...just started running about 9 months ago, doing mostly 5k runs. I've run a 10 mile race, and started a marathon, but an injury prevented me from finishing. I'm still looking to finish a marathon, and hoping to finish in under 4 hours.

    Junkie,

I just came across this post and can't believe that you are "taking it easy at 8:43 pace" already!  GOOD FOR YOU!!!!  You are rockin' it out!

    burg,

For the past 20 some years I've always had to run 2 miles once a year (for promotions...etc.) and pretty much "gutted it out" in around 17 minutes. After the last year of running, that's down around 13:30. I guess I'm lucky in the sense that I'm fairly natural at running :). Until last October, I'd never run farther than 4 miles.
