This morning, while riding my scooter to work, I had a close call with a runner on Lander road, between Harvard and Chagrin.

I had just crossed an intersection and saw a dog playing in a yard on my right.  This distraction kept me from seeing a runner coming toward me until I had almost passed him.  He was wearing a bright yellow sweatshirt (which I saw after my distraction) and he hopped up on the tree lawn to avoid me, due to my riding in the outside of the lane.  I looked back in my rearview and he was visibly frustrated by me.  I felt horrible!

Being a runner and having run in the street, I know what it is like to have a close call with a vehicle.  It's totally embarrassing and frustrating that I would cause that for someone else.  There is no limit to the distractions we face on the roads.  This is yet another reminder of the full attention I need to pay while driving/riding/running.

Unknown runner - I'm very sorry.
