Even though I'm relocated to Iowa for a few months, I somehow managed to find a nice 5k, called the Dream Big 5k race set up for this Sunday. Granted, it's no 10/half/or full marathon, but apparently it's a small local race for this town, and it will work as a good training run for me too. I picked up my packet and my number is #65. I am currently the last one to register. Yea it's that small.

I'm pretty excited about it too. This will be my first race back since I fractured my leg in April, and had to rebuild my running program. I've been using the FIRST book, that JB mentioned a while back, so I should be pretty prepared. I sure hope so.

Currently I'm pushing somewhere between 15-20mi/week in running and then another 40-60mi/wk on the bike, so the aerobic level is there; I'll just need to be calm for the run.

Just thought I'd share my excitement.

Hey Lost, looks like a great event.  How'd you do?  I'd love to say I placed in the top 65 in my first 5k race!  ;-)

I looked at the route - that's about where all those windmills are, isn't it?  We drive through there every year to visit my family in Minneapolis, and I have an aunt & uncle on my mother's side living near Mason City.

Steve, it was a great course. Just across the lake are the windmills, which were moving pretty good while out running.

I set a new PR for my 5k run actually, and probably could have gone faster. I had plenty in the tank nearing the end. I ran the 3.1 in 28'52" and placed 3rd in the 20-29 male age group. It was a whole lot of fun.

Speaking of Mason City, I'm actually right between Clear Lake and Mason City on Hwy 18. I'm just west of I-35 toward Clear Lake in a Best Western. Does that sound familiar too?

Keep up w/ the mileage man. You're kicking butt and taking names.

Wow, congrats on the 3rd place finish! But what is this "probably could have gone faster"???

We always drive over on 18 to I-35 and up to Minnesota. Haven't seen the Best Western, but I'm sure it's as nice as they come.  Wait, isn't that where that big outdoor wooden maze is?  We've stopped there!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I should clear 2000 miles Wednesday morning. And I think I can see Seattle just up there on the horizon!
