Well our home course is one of the harder ones in NJ.  Most of the beginning is flat and slightly downhill at some parts and an acception of a short wind VERY steep hill.  Throughout the course theres many ups and not as many down execept for one very steep decline that could be deadly in the rain.  The last 1/2 mile is all uphill.  My best right now is 18:40 and im aiming at under 19:30 because its a tough course.  Should I go out sub 6:00min so i have time to spare on the tough hills?  Or should i just keep the same pace throughout?  Im sure theres some XC runners out there with this type of course.  Any advice on pace, or strategy, etc?

I think you are thinking about it too much man, just go out there and race. If you go out and race, the times are gonna come. You've put in the work, there's no reason you can't go out there and run fast even if there is a huge hill.

    Good luck

sounds like a plan. My advice would be to go out at whatever pace you feel like you could hold for the 5k distance and then just maintain the level of effort as you climb the hill (or go harder if possible since its at the finish).

As for my 5k PR, I ran 15:28 on the track last spring and 14:59 on the treadmill (with a 1% grade). Too bad treadmill running doesn't go into the results so I could call that one official, haha.
