    Hi Guys

Sorry to go quiet for a month, but I got knocked out of commission briefly.

I don't want to freak anyone out, but last month I had a mini-stroke.  I woke up one  morning and my right hand and the right side of my mouth were numb and tingling. My hand felt like I had slept on it funny, my mouth felt like I'd had a shot of novocaine. When I brushed my teeth it was clear that the right side of my tongue was numb, the left side was just fine. THAT got my attention big-time.  So I called my doctor, and he said to get to the ER right away.

I spent 2 days in the hospital.  They ran all kinds of tests, all came back fine. I never had any symptoms besides the numbness, and that has been slowly going away over the last 4 weeks. I'm on one aspirin a day now. The doctor says I should go back to all my activities: keep exercising, biking, everything I was doing before.

Anyway, I'm in California now but it looks like I'll fall some 300 miles short of my goal for 2008.  At least I have my health!

    Steve,

Wow! You just about knocked me out of my seat.

That had to be scary for you and your family. I'm glad to hear that you'll be OK. Did they say what could have brought it on?

    Hi Eric

Yeah, knocked me and my doctor as well  I'm only 45 for gosh sakes.

They looked for anything chronic that could have brought it on.  Nothing.  I asked my doctor that same question several times.  His only answer: bad luck.  I've been checked now from head to toe and have a clean bill of health.  The good news is that aspirin is pretty much a cure for strokes when there is no chronic condition in the heart or arteries causing them.

Take care Steve. Glad to hear your okay, even if it was scary at the time.

Keep on trucking and don't worry about the shortage. It's better to be healthy and vertical, than not counting miles. We're still pulling for you though.
