I don't like it.  I'm trying to add a run to my training calendar and it won't let me do it since it says I am not logged in.  I am though.  And I don't see the point of making the calendar smaller.

I do love the site though - great way to design/share routes and keep track of training.  Thanks!

I liked the differences in color and shape of the icons before.  There were easier to see and differentiate.  I also have to agree that the calendar is too small.  The summaries at the top where it records total miles / calories / weight "wrap" to the next line making it kind of jumbled.

I do like the direction you are taking the functionality or interactivity though.  Keep it going!

    Thanks!

I hate that after I enter an activity on the training calendar, I then get taken to a screen where I have to hit "go back" to see the month.  Can't it just route me after I hit SAVE back to the workout calendar?  I can always click on which day I want to edit if needed.  It would elminate a step & be faster for entering info.

I have the same log-in issue as everyone else, with one addition - I figured I didn't hit save the first time I submitted my run this morning, so I saved it again. I then realized I entered double mileage for today, so I deleted one. My overall mileage is now correct, however it's still wrong on my 100 miles/30 days goal.

Follow up to a previous post...

After looking it it again, it has the distance that I rode today added to my total distance displayed on the calendar. Didnt realize that.

Since it didnt show the log entry for today, I re-entered it and that distance is added in and the total distance now reflects 2 log entries of the same workout HOWEVER it does not show that any workout has occured today on the calendar.

    Clearly not ready....Frown

Dont really care for ipod stuff like others have indicated.. Could be a pref settings to allow that for the user. Not everyone has a new iPod Touch/ iPhone. My iPod 20G photo does just fine for my rides.

Having the same issue other people are having - logged two new runs and they aren't showing up in my training log/calendar.  The new routes are showing in my list of routes, though.

My calories burned were not being calculated.

And, after saving my route I clicked the link to view my training calendar, when I did, each time it told me I needed to log in to view the caledar, even though I was already logged in.

First off - Thanks for all of the great feedback! We appreciate all the input we can get.

To address some of the concerns brought up:

    1. For the users who are logging workouts but not seeing them displayed in the calendar, can you provide some more information about your system so that we can troubleshoot a bit further (IE: Operating System, Browser Version, Firewall, etc..).  Since a lot of you have mentioned that you are seeing the stats show up but not the icon in the calendar, that tells me that the system is still logging your workouts correctly, but there's a problem with downloading the icons.  One way to fix this:  Log out from the site, clear your browser temporary file and cookie cache (Firefox users - click here for info on clearing your cache, Internet Explorer users - click here , Safari users - click here, for all other browsers, please refer to the software's documentation for steps on clearing your browser cache).  You will also want to verify you firewall / security settings are not blocking the site if clearing the cache alone doesn't fix the problem.  Once your cache is cleared and security settings have been verified, try logging in again and check whether or not you are still encountering the issues presented.  If the issues persist, please use our contact us form to send us your question / problem directly and we can troubleshoot the issues further .  By using the contact us  form, we also get sent information about your system automatically, so that will greatly enhance our ability troubleshoot your problem and find a solution.
    2.   As for the icons - thanks for the input!  We have just released a new set of icons, and will continue to improve them and add to the collection as we move forward.  We realize that it might take some time to adjust to the new icons, so please bear with us while we work some graphic magic to make the icons more visible and recognizable across the site.  We also do have plans to make the icons even more customized according to the exact activity taking place, but in the meantime, the icons just apply to the "general" categories.
    3. As for concerns regarding the width of the calendar page - rest assured that this is by no means the final version of the calendar that you will see.  We have many plans to update, upgrade, and broaden the functionality available on this page.   Without getting into specifics, I am personally working on a set of updates right now that I have a feeling a lot of you will be very pleased to see.  So in the meantime, keep the awesome feedback coming in, because we ARE listening, and we want to be sure we're making the best products available.
    4. Regarding concerns about the new "Integrated Applications" module - we hear you.  We will continue to improve and tweak the module as we receive feedback and have new links to offer, so keep the feedback coming!
    5. As for all of you that said you like the new design - thanks!  We've put a lot of hard work into it, and it's good to know that, albeit some small hiccups here and there, we are on the right track.

I can't say it enough - thanks again for the stellar comments, and thanks for the continued support of our site and community!

     Cheers!

    Brad

    Hi Brad.

I am using firefox 3.0.8  currently from a fedora  10 linux box.

I was able to add a workout from "add" onto the calendar and saw the icons.

It was when I did "map new ride", and then it asked whether I also wanted to add it to

my calendar, that I had the problem.  I did log out and back in to see if it made a difference.

I just tried clearing private data, and I still don't see the workout I added this morning.

    Hey Brad...

Well I logged in on a PC (Win XP w/ firefox) that I have NEVER logged into MMR before. The training calendar still does not populate the icon showing that I logged a workout today. Originally, I logged it on Mac w/ 10.4.11 OSX using Firefox.

I also checked it on a PC w/ Win 2000 that I have never logged into with and used  Firefox & IE6. Again nogo.

The above three computers are at my place of work, so it is on the same network.

So I used a remote access login to login into a MAC at my house running 10.4.11 and logged onto MMR remotely. It STILL did not populate that calendar with an icon showing that I logged a workout today, but all that stats (i.e. calories, distance, etc. were still correct) just like before.

Kinda weird...Undecided.. Checked it about 30 min ago... but now IT is working.

So I just deleted on extra ride. Working good now.Smile

Additionally did a 30 miler after work & it logged it as it should. Great jobs guys.

My training log looks good now too (I'm using Opera on a mac). My goals mileage is still off, though. I should be at 91ish miles, but show 96ish miles.

    The site looks good.

UPDATE: Thanks again for all the great feedback.  There were 2 small, completely different, but somewhat related issues that were causing the problems.  This should be fixed now for all the cases mentioned above, and you should be seeing any workouts that were record in the stats but not being displayed in the training log.  So - any that have been experiencing these "phantom workout" issues, log out, clear your browser cache (as outline in my post above in #1), and login again and verify whether or not you are still having these issues.

The new front end is fine, but I wish you would work more on the screens to enter workout data.  This is still the old, clunky design.  Am I missing something here???  Try to get it to 1 screen instead of 3.

Also, since you're tinkering with the site, can you fix the Nike+ integration.  Calories no longer come across and a default shoe would be nice (adding this to an imported Nike+ run takes 10, count 'em 10 mouse clicks).

    1. click on run icon
    2. click on edit this workout
    3. click and select "what general type of workout was this?" - it's not pre- populated and you can't continue without it
    4. click and select activity detail
    5. click "auto calculate" button for calorie burn
    6. click "to step 2" button
    7. click and select my shoe
    8. click "to step 3" button
    9. click "submit" button
    10. click "update" button

    1. Some more icons would be great - sounds like you are already working on this one.  XCskiing, rock climbing may be ideas?

    2. I still can' seem to link XC skiing to a route when i log a workout.  However it is now April and I won't have to do this till next winter - hope I can by then.

Otherwise, great site - good work guys!

The new layout for the groups section is a huge improvement. I've found 2 possible bugs though. As someone mentioned above, all our saved routes have wacky distances in the summary display. Secondly in the list of recent workouts, it lists them all as happening the same amount of hours ago. All recent workouts are 1 day, 19 hours, or 2 days, 19 hours, every single one, regardless of when people entered it, is some amount of days (which is correct), plus 19 hours, which isn't correct.

The new design definitely has a cleaner look. My only complaint about MMR is that, since I started using it about 1.5 years ago, all the main/important content on the site has become pushed aside, made smaller, and overall less user-friendly. I understand the need for ads, but there is just way too much stuff on each page for my taste, with not enough of the stuff being what I come to MMR for. What would be nice would be to have more customizable forms, such that I can only see the few items that I want to track with each run and not have to go through 3 sets of menus.

I always start with Calendar - it's too small. The side columns distract and provide irrelevant content; they  could simply be navigation tabs.

I'd like to be able to click and drag a workout from one day on the calender to another day, making it easier to be flexible with your workouts, due to weather, soreness etc. Usually its just too much of a hassle to delete the workout, resubmit it on the next day and then take that days workout delete that and move it to the day before. All in all the site as a whole is remarkably useful and i think the new design gives it an energized look. A larger calender would be nice, but it still works just as well.
  5.
    Nottahobbie Running
oh and also integrating local weather into the workout for that day might be a bonus, i usually just write it in the notes section, but it would be pretty cool if it just populated itself from a weather source, that way i can look back at each day and not have to worry about what the weather was that day.  Most important features would be temp, humidity, wind and precipitation. Also perhaps having a comments and suggestions forum all the time may be a help, as it will generate a large amount of customer feedback.

My problem is on your home page. Why in the world is the button for "Or login using Facebook" so much bigger and more prominent than the standard "Log In" button?

I use Facebook, but in 5 months at MMR I've never logged in from FB.

Still, the misplaced and oversized Facebook button dominates the log in and slows me down.

    What gives?

I have to echo some previous comments... If you're going to change something make sure it is for the right reasons and that you actually 'make things better'...

    The new icons are terrible.

    The calendar is too small.

Please get rid of all the applications rubbish on the right hand side... we don't all have iPhones...

The generic 'figure with a ball' for any random sport is a bit of a pain. If you're going to design new icons let's see a wider range.

One of the attractions of the old layout for me was that I could easy see my training history in terms of past weeks and months - I don't find an easy way of getting that data out now, which makes my two year investment of inputting training sessions seem redundant. I'm not so interested in seeing what I've done in the last week or even month - I'm using the site for the longer-term and want to be able to navigate directly to my personal training history. sorry not to be more positive, but the new layout removes what was a key feature of my use up to now.

I use the running, cycling and swimming icons. And I think they are better than the previous. However, I would like my swimmer to swim in the same direction as my biker and runner are moving. i.e. left to right.

There's much too much "stuff" on the pages now, which means that the whole site is now creakingly slow.  By "stuff" I mean dynamic content and gadgets, as well as adverts.  I don't think it is a bandwidth problem, but interacting with the site brings my computer to its knees.  Any chance of a "lite" version?

Overall, it's pretty good.  However I agree it's too cluttered--that whole right frame is too big, and a lot of us don't have iPhones.  Also, I set up a recurring workout, but there's no really fast way (that I've found) to confirm that I did it.

    Hi

The looks are good, but again i find that you have given to much space to your sponsor. I understand that there should come some money. But don't forget: your functionality is the basis on which we want to come to your site.

In the case of the calender give 75 or more pixels of the right collumn (the advertorial and the iphone stuff) to the calender so our workouts get more space.

If i had an iphone i already would know that you had those apps and used them (or not) So you can put them away. And if you make the avertorial a little longer the total surface of advertorial can be the same. So the sponer is happy after al. :)

Can you provide some more icons depending on the kind of activity? Now it looks more like  soccer player ... or so.

The calendar is too small, the ads are too big, and too much space is devoted to the tech gadgetry.  Keep the display simple for those of us who do, too, and allow people with all the toys to add those applications as preferences.

    thanks.

  10.
    kevindavitt

    Generally positive. Thanks.

However, and to reiterate some others comments, the activity icons are poor in my opinion. Appreciate that it is probably too much to ask for to have one for each specific activity ... but there must be a middle ground somwhere.

(ie. Don't like a footballer icon when I've been doing martial arts for example)
