    Hello All,

I'm pretty new to road cycling, but have been mountain biking for a few years now. I bought a nice upper-entry level road bike this spring (Cannondale Synapse), so that I could start riding with my girlfriend. A couple weeks ago she dislocated her shoulder while kayaking, has surgery in May, and won't be biking until late summer. I've been going on rides by myself, but being new I'm having a hard time pushing my pace or finding new routes.

Are there any groups in Columbus, IN that I could tag along on? If there aren't any groups, would any one want to start one with me?

My friend's gf lives in Indy, but I don't feel like driving all the way up there every other day just to ride with her, and she has a wicked 20+ mph pace!

    Thanks,

    Derek

there are several grpoup rides in  columbus.  You really just have to get hooked up with the email group and then you are in.

Usually two rides on the weekend, weather permitting, one on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  Most of these riudes start at the Bicycle station on Washington street.  The rides are always different.  Go west of town for hills and rollers and east of town for flats and intervals.  Call and talk to Matt or Loran and they will get you added to the email list.  The good thing is that most of these rides are NO DROPS and there are a wide range of skill levels.  So that makes it much easier.

If you decide to join in the fun -- welcome aboard.

Also you will find many ride maps on this site.  My wife and I have done a lot of the ones west of town.  Great roads and generally good drivers -- generally.

I joined in on the Monday night ride last night, and had a blast. It's nice riding with a group that moves a higher pace than I'm use to. I want to get faster, so this should help. Plus most of my rides are alone and in the country, and saying hello to the same live stock every day gets a little old ;)

     See you guys next week.
