Full Description

This ride will help raise money for a physical memorial to the NIU students whose lives were lost in the shooting tragedy on 2-14-2008.

The 5 and 10 mile fun rides include fun events for children at Hopkins Park in DeKalb. The 10-mile fun ride continues to the TAILS Humane Society's animal shelter where youngsters (and oldsters) can visit with puppies. Free water bottles while supplies last. This event provides a positive activity for youth in response to a tragic event.

Additional donations accepted. T-shirts will be available to order for $10 the day of the ride. Come and enjoy a beautiful spring bike ride while helping to memorialize the lives of 5 NIU students.

Kishwaukee District Boy Scouts of America will have an information table available at the Hopkins Park refreshment stop for anyone interested in learning more about the Scouting program. For nearly 100 years Scouting has been serving America.

Location: NIU Recreation Center, DeKalb, IL (southwest corner: Annie Glidden Rd and Lucinda Ave) Routes:

  • 5 and 10 mile fun rides along Kishwaukee bike trail and monitored by SAG riders
  • 35 and 64 mile rides primarily on flat rural roads with SAG wagon support
  • Routes will be paved and marked.

    Registration info:
  • $20.00 adults (age 12 & over) - price does not include t-shirt
  • Free to children under 12 with paying adult
  • Fee includes ride maps, rest stops, and SAG support, 
  • Registration from 7:00am to 10:00am
  • Registration on day of event is allowed if limit has not been exceeded
