Full DescriptionThe Civista Potomac Heritage Bicycle Tour will be on Sunday, October 12, 2008. Routes of 14, 33, 60, 80, and 100 miles start and end in La Plata, Maryland. Come ride for your health and the health of those served by the Civista Medical Center. The event is sponsored by the Civista Health Foundation which raises funds for Civista Medical Center. Proceeds will benefit necessary renovations of the pharmacy which provides critical services to hundreds of patients each and every day. Routes will take cyclists along the scenic on-road bicycle route of the Potomac Heritage Trail. Riders will leave La Plata starting at 7:00 and pass through historic Port Tobacco and climb a short hill to a spectacular view from Chapel Point. The longer routes continue along lightly travelled back roads with rest stops throughout. The century route then heads through Amish country to Leonardtown. Cyclists will return to La Plata to the <a href="http://www.thecrossingatcaseyjones.com/">Crossing at Casey Jones</a>, where they will enjoy an after-ride party with food and entertainment. The pre-registration fee of $30 covers rest stops along the route, SAG support, marked routes, cue sheets and maps and the after-ride party. The first 250 entrants also receive a t-shirt and souvenirs. Riders are encouraged to pre-register to be assured of getting a t-shirt and other ride souvenirs. Day-of-ride registration begins at 7:00 am and is $35. Comments |
