Starting from the layby just below Bens Cottage cycle around Llanberis or if you prefer go through the town. If you went through the town, or if you know where the road meets the main road again, you can take the car park road left (off the main road) following it up and onto a dirt track. The track up ahead goes under the road and brings you out near enough at the right turn around the Llyn Padarn lake. The road leading up to Dinorwig is steep and narrow, but at this height your be forgiven for dismounting and taking in the view to catch your breath. Follwo the route through towards the slate quarry. Go over the gate and head up along the road, turn right at the 1st avaliable turning, up the hill and follow it all the way around to the slate quarry. Now comes the hard part, keeping your nerve and hope not to come off. If the wind is high and the weather is bad, turn back and go the way you came (safety is paramount on this down section). Follow the slate mine through, keeping in mind that your on slate and those with you are getting the slate flying up you back wheel. Watch out for punches, but you should be okay, but most of all, don't rush it, be safe and watch those turns. After a few twists and turns, breeze the latter flat sections, easily going 20mph before further turns. Head over a few gates and your back where you started. If your up for a good meal and a pint try the pub in Nant Peris, also great after climbing snowdon itself. Its an awesome ride and worth the big long climbs... well worth the effort for the fearless.
