location: Tucson, Arizona distance: 71.43 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Big Climb, Long Climb, Long Distance, Pavement And Sidewalk, Rural, TTM Training Ride, Urban created by: description: Other than the ongoing road construction on Sandario, this is one long training ride. It is not recommended to ride Sandario alone, but it can be done EARLY in the morning as traffic starts building after 7 a.m. View | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend | Send a Message |

location: Tucson, Arizona distance: 65.67 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Big Climb, Big Climbs, High Traffic Area, Long Climb, Mostly On Bike Paths, Rural, Urban created by: description: This is a training ride for the second half of the El Tour de Tucson and follows, with the exception of the detour to the Marana Civic Center, the route of the Tour from Ina Road to the end at the Tucson Civic Center (TCC). Start and End point is the flag pole at the University of Arizona. This route is ridden in the reverse direction of the Tour as it is more challanging, but the ride in the Tour direction, up 1st, down Ina, up Oracle to 'Tangerine Hill', down Tangerine and up Silverbell is the actual Tour path. location: Tucson, Arizona distance: 68.62 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Big Climb, City, High Traffic Area, Long Climb, Pavement And Sidewalk, Rural, Suburban, Urban created by: description: This is a direct mapping of the Megahurtz riding groups Extended UniversityMcCainBenson ride but it takes Mile Wide road cutting off about 3 miles of boring riding. Be aware that Sandario across the Nation is not in good repair. Benson, Valencia, Frontage, Kolb is another boring stretch of road, but is also 50 to 55 MPH. Benson has LOVELY wide shoulders. The frontage road does not have that much traffic but Kolb is a major route into Tucson and is very rough pavement but not potholed nor broken. Aviation is NOT a bike friendly area but has a bike path along most, if not all of the route of the road. Also, this route takes you through Gates Pass which is ONE impressive climb starting at Silverbell/St Marys and not ending for a few miles. If your hill climbing abilities are limited, this is NOT a recommended ride, but you can ride down Grande/Mission and ride down Irvington to Kolb and back. location: Tucson, Arizona distance: 60.64 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Big Climbs, Flat, Long Climb, Long Distance, Low Traffic Area, Pavement And Sidewalk, Rural, Urban, Very Hilly created by: description: This is the 'classic' Shootout ride that I rode on 9/29/2007. This ride was punctuated with a very strong wind from the South, which made the climb up Mission Road and Competition Hill very difficult. However, the ride back on Old Nogales Hwy, was very fast, at over 20 MPH. This ride was written up in Bicycling and has several hosting web sites.
