Features: all paved, 2 and 4-lane roads. Notes: Use the right turn lane and NOT the bike lane when turning from Lakemont to Glenridge. The pavement on General Reese is terrible, I use the neighborhood for a quiet interlude, but Winter Park Rd. is fine too. The washboard pavement on Virginia just east of 17-92 is brutal, and taking Nebraska to 17-92, then making a right at the green light on Virginia usually gives a long car-free gap on Virginia. It can be started anywhere on its route since it is a circuit that doesn't repeat. One ideal spot is the City Boat Ramp in Maitland on 17-92. Another is the Boy Scout facility on Horatio. Both have parking. There are parts that are fairly high traffic, but there are lanes on Horatio and the majority is residential. Some hills on Via Lugano and Palmer, but a mild workout. There is construction on Howland - no shoulder - and Newmark is closed as is the Lake Helen road entrance - you have to go to Elkam. For some unknown reason, the county chose to pave half of the shoulder on Lake Helen road, creating a 2 inch lip in the middle of the shoulder - better to ride on the road. Blue Lake Rd is great and 17-92 has a bike lane from Orange City to Sanford. It's fun to stop for a swim at Blue Springs (when it's hot).
