location: Denton, Texas distance: 52.71 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Back Country, Long Distance, Rolling Hills, Rural, Scenic created by: description: The ride to Argyle and the first part of 407. Once you get west of 35 there is no shoulder but just enough to ride single file on the white line. Traffic is no too bad. At the seedway there is a Shell station on the southeast corner of 114 and 35 if you need to stop. Laps around Texas Motor Speedway are about 5 miles so you can do three laps and make the ride 60 miles or do one and make it 380. On the way back, once you leave Justin the shoulder drops off again with just enough to go single file all the way to Hwy 50/University Dr. There are some good rolling hills from there into Ponder and on to Hwy 380. Once on 380 the shoulder is wide and very smooth. Heading back into Denton on Hickory is fast, try to time the lights correctly and watch for slow, bad, and possibly drunk drivers going through fry st.
