There are hills and climbs on the Century; however, you be glad to know that the Century does NOT have a long, steep hill like the one here on Hamilton Pool Road at Miles 46-51!\n\nThe first 26 miles follows the main Dripping Springs Training Route (to Johnson City), then turns right for about 4 miles on busy Hwy 281. The route then follows Cypress Mill Road/CR 301, which is part of the Century Ride (this 11 miles is officially known as the Olympic Extension). The training route then turns right onto RR 962/Hamilton Pool Road for the gentle descent to and the long climb out of the Pedernales River Basin, before turning south to return to the starting point in Dripping Springs. For a short-cut: turn right at mile 54.5 (just past the store) on RR 12, to cut 5.4 miles from the ride.\n\nCaution: the low water crossing on Cypress Mill Road/CR 301 at mile 32.2 is usually running and can be slick, although with the recent drought, it may be dry; on Hamilton Pool Road, take special care as you approach, cross, and climb out of the Pedernales River; the upper section on Hamilton Pool Road can be somewhat congested at times. To avoid the long climb up Hamilton Pool Road (miles 46 to 51), consider riding the route in reverse, but if you do so, you\'ll generally be without SAG. \n\nIf you follow this route as posted, then you will have SAG to mile 26. From mile 26 (Johnson City) to the end, you are on your own without SAG support unless you are advised otherwise on the day of the training ride. \n\nThere are convenience stores/restrooms at miles 26 and 55.
