location: Pullman, Washington distance: 49.46 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride created by: description: Uses a good bit of the Latah trail, but also gets some climbing from Lenville and the Troy hill (Kendrick direction). Note, stay on the trail into Troy (which is not clearly shown on the map), then take the trail around the backside of the Conoco to get to the climb out of town. Don't miss the turn off for Lamb road, or you will have a nice long trip to Kendrick (also a good ride, but might be a bit more than you planned for). location: Pullman, Washington distance: 83.39 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride Tags: Pavement, onroad, trail, rural, rough, hilly, very Steep, unsafe, long Climb created by: description: This ride is best if you start EARLY (6 am), before heat becomes a factor. The downhill into Kendrick is fun, but also potentially dangerous if you don't stay in control (you will easily hit 50 mph) The climb from Kendrick to Deary is one of the hardest climbs I have ever done in my life, hands down. It just seems to keep going. Don't underestimate it. Stop at the store in Deary for a banana and water. Also, it is a good idea to stop in Troy for water before starting home on the Latah trail (which I tried to approximate in my route as best as possible, though this software doesn't give trails, which is unfortunate). location: Pullman, Washington distance: 77.44 mi. | Route Type: Bike Ride created by: description: Mtn Mike Mar 17th 2007 This is a great spring training route. The first 50 miles are mostly flat or downhill. At mile 48 or so, you hit the 10 mile grade and climb 2000 feet. The last 25 miles back to Pullman are typical of the Pallous (roller after roller). MarvinK Mar 19th 2008 Take a look at the wind before you go on this ride--it can be a killer along the WaWaWai River Road, if you're headed the wrong direction. If you go the opposite direction, the WaWaWai Grade hill is more challenging than the Old Spiral Highway! View | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend | Send a Message |
