W. Post from Baldwin. The route is closer to 14.5 miles. Teh North bound ride is slightly uphill most fo the way, the south bound is down. The Nrothern 2 miles includes some decent climbs near the University. The scary parts are Uniondale on Brookside, Earl Ovington Blvd, and MErchant's Concourse (there are decent shoulders most of this part) but the segments from Old COuntry Road North are GREAT AND WELL WORTH THE TRIP. You will pass the world famous 495 service road along the route and you can easily hop on. This route is much better than any of the others we have tried to get to 495. The exceptions are portions on Wantagh Ave and Babylon Turnpike. The Cedar Creek to Jones Beach Section utilizes a Multi-use path which can get quite busy esp. on weekends and evenings. Best rides are to be had in the EARLY AM. If you get really lucky and ride early in the morning you can catch the change in sea breezes and be treated to a good head wiond both ways. It can be a work out.\n\nA the beach end there is a bike parking area for lock up, and you can walk to the beach from the bike area. During the winter (between Labor Day and Memorial Day) you can also ride down to the beach and ride the boardwalk, but when the beach is in season Bicycles are prohibited.nnPlease use the Hybrid View to better visualize the Path Routes and to find the trail exit from Cedar Creek Park.
