Great ride on weekends as sections of Beach drive are closed to autos. Bathrooms on the way on Beach Drive and at boathouse on the Capitol Crescent/C&O section. Caution on the bike path in Rock Creek Park, some sections are rough and very narrow.

this is my fav ride! I got a very old mountain bike and I'm in the market for a new one. Now, I wanted a road bike, but I think this means I'd have to give up this ride because of the unpaved section of the CCT extension. Any suggestion??

This is a great ride especially on the weekends when parts of rock creek are closed to cars; Yeah! There is always the constant pedestrian, cyclist and the 15 mph speed limit on the Cap Crest debate, but lets just have fun with this ride.

No need to give up a road bike for the unpaved part (so long as it's dry). Just run some 25mm and you'll be fine. Or buy a cyclocross bike (road bike parts, but takes fat tires).
