Shortest scenic route to Walden: 1: Esplanade to Waltham (2 bridges before cemetery). 2: Main St & Lexington St to Reservoir. 3: Trapelo to Wadlen. 4: Trapelo to Belmont to Mt. Auburn. 5: Mem Drive back.

This is a nice route. For variety, you can also go out Concord Ave from Cambrdige.
