Great Dismal Swamp Canal Trail
This trail resulted from recovery of a section of old US Route 17 which ran along the eastern edge of the Great Dismal Swamp. When the new Route 17 was built, the Federal Government and the City of Chesapeake turned the old 2-lane road into a multi-use trail.
It is flat, quiet and scenic, and motor vehicles are not allowed.
