Description of this Bike Ride

This is fantastic ride up the Kangamaugus Highway alongside the Swift River. Stop at Albany Covered Brdge, Lower Falls, Rocky Gorge, Champney Falls, Sabbaday Falls, Sugar Hill Viewpoint and the top of the pass for views. The ride up to the Sugar Hill viewpoint is a gradual climb for about 17 miles. The work begins on the last 5 unrelenting miles to the top. The return is an excellent cruise down. On the return to Conway Village, take a left onto Passaconaway Road, walk your bike across the Albany Covered Bridge then enjoy more splendid downhill cruising . The Kanc is very good except for old cracked pavement for the first 6 miles (avoided by riding Passaconaway Road) and a section at about the 13-16 mile point. This is one of the best rides in the region.
