The epic & legendary Phantom Canyon ride from Colorado Springs. Start at Shuga\\'s restaurant & coffee bar (www.shugas.com). Weave through some neighborhoods then get on Hwy 115 south to Penrose. Top off your bottles here in Penrose {at the gas station on the LEFT, just before getting onto Hwy 50}, since there won\\'t be another store for a long time. Turn right on Hwy 50 towards CanonCity/Florence (home of 3 super max prisions!). After a few miles you\\'ll turn right onto Phantom Canyon (it should be the first light after getting onto 50--clearly marked). Its paved for a few miles, but then its a dirt climb (~3% grade) for ~25 miles to Victor. Follow Hwy 67 to Cripple Creek. Re-Fuel again in Victor (if you can find an open store) and/or Cripple Creek. My personal fav is getting an iced espresso at the Starbucks there {or try the new Cripple Creek Coffee shop}; a nice treat to pep you up for the final portion. Climb on Hwy 67 out of Cripple Creek to Divide. At Divide, hang a right onto Hwy 24 and enjoy the (mostly) downhill to Woodland Park and Manitou Springs. Take the Manitou BLVD Exit off of Hwy 24 to cruise through Manitou. Just as you exit the Manitou Downtown, hang a left onto El Paso (a small park will be on your right when you turn onto El Paso). Follow El Paso to either make the left up into Garden of the Gods, or straight to continue on West Pikes Peak Ave. As an extra special bonus treat, I included a lap of Garden of the Gods at the end of the ride! After that, cruise back to downtown C-Springs. Enjoy a tasty beverage at Shuga\\'s.
