Leaving Libby Park, you tour through homes in Old Ojai, eventually turning right onto Hwy 150. Cruise through the rolling hills and pastoral views to skirt Casitas Lake. Enjoy the magnificient views of the mountains to your right. A Rest Stop (RS) is provided at the Casitas Ranger Station. Continue climbing until you reach the highest climb of your course, the first Casitas Pass Summit at 1175 feet. A fast downhill run through 3 miles of a serene valley will bring you to the second Casitas Pass West at 920 feet. A fast run, with a drop of 700 feet over the next two miles will bring you to the edge of Santa Barbara County. A quick right onto Gobernador Canyon followed by a quick left will start your tour through this hidden gem of horse farms. Cresting the mini-summit at 449 feet, you will enter single lane road, a quick downhill with hair pin turns and run out to meet Hwy 192. Cruising through the many flower farms you will eventually come to Carpenteria High School (Carp HS) RS. Leaving Carp HS you continue on Hwy 192 until you come to the Polo Grounds. A left on Nidever Road followed by another quick left onto Via Real will begin the rider on the return trip. As you pass the turn off to Padaro Lane, you will be joined by riders from the BC, HHC and DMC courses. Continuing on to upper Carpenteria, take a left at Santa Monica stop sign. Following Sanat Monica you will shortly come to Hwy 192. A right turn will shortly bring you back to the Carp HS RS. Leaving this and continuing east on Hwy 192 past the Governador turn off, you will come to the intersection of Hwy 150. Caution: a sharp right turn follows a quick down hill run. A short climb up Hwy 150 (caution road resurfacing being done), will bring you to Rincon Hill on your left. Make the 180 degree left hairpin onto Rincon Hill and begin the fast descent to the coast. Caution: a sharp blind right turn follows immediatly after crossing the little bridge. As you run out now on Bates Road, pass under Hwy 101 and take the on ramp to Hwy 101 South. Follow the coast along Hwy 101 for 4 miles (yes this is the only way to get through this stretch--no other side roads). Take the Sea Cliff exit off followed by an immediate right onto PCH. Follow PCH along the ocean south, usually enjoying nice tailwinds, until you pass Emma Wood Camp turn off. Continue on PCH until just before the road reenters Hwy 101. Look for the Bike Trail bypass on the right. Take this and follow the bike trail until it comes out into Emma Wood Group camp. Exit the park with a right turn onto Main Street. Shortly after crossing over the Ventura River Bridge and under Hwy 33 you will come to the Lunch stop at Patagonia. Leaving the lunch stop continue on Main Street to an immediate left on Olive. Follow Olive up to Dubbers Lane and take a left there. As Dubbers turns right you will see the entrace of the Ventura River Bike Trail straight ahead. Take that and follow the Bike Trai for 14 miles back to the finish at Libby Park...and the completion of a scentic Metric Century.
