Workouts are disqualified when our panel of expert cyclists believe there is significant evidence of motorized support or other potentially deceptive data. This can be due to:
Speeds incompatible with human-powered cycles, especially on uphill climbs
Speeds or power output that is highly inconsistant with historical user data
Routes that clearly took place under motorized or electric assistance.
Other data that is extremely questionable in the eyes of our Expert Judges
Unverified workouts do not receive an official ranking (although you can still compare them to the official rankings and each other).
Verified vs Unverified workouts.
Submitting ride data through the iMapMyRIDE App or a compatible GPS device makes a participant's ride "verified", as we can ensure the accuracy and integrity of that data. If a participant manually enters ride data, the ride is considered "unverified" because there is no objective way for us to confirm the accuracy or integrity of that data.
Verified results can be achieved by submitting data through the following devices:
iPhone (any MapMyFitness app)
Android (any MapMyFitness app)
Blackberry (any MapMyFitness app)
Compatible GPS device (export a .GPX and .TCX files from your device and upload to the Log a Workout page)
Participants MUST designate a workout as a Bike Ride at the time of submission of workout data.

Penalties are assigned for a variety of reasons, and are a reflection of both the specific route and the stage's composition.
All penalties are assigned by our panel of expert cyclists under close watch to ensure accuracy and fairness. Some examples of why a user may be penalized include but are not limited to:
The route is exclusively downhill
The route statisitcs imply motorized aid, either because of an unusually high speed or pace or because the speed is too constant (especially on climbs)
GPS errors exist in the route that create falsely inflated distance or pace
Data is inconsistent with historical user data or realistic cycling data
