Another really good hill workout and power workout (final 7 miles)! \n
\\n\n
\\nThe first 5 miles or so is relatively flat with one very little climb up Jamacha Rd into El Cajon.\n
\\n\n
\\nThe climb up to Crest is 3 miles long and climbs 1200 '. This is a soutwest facing grade and open, hence can get very warm, paricuarly Summer and early Fall.\n
\\n\n
\\nThe descent from Crest into Harbison Canyon is also 3 miles and in a couple of spots has some tigher turns. Once into Harbison Canyon you continue to descend to Sycuan Jct (Dehesa and Harbison Canyon Rd.) \n
\\n\n
\\nAt Sycuan Jct (Harbison Canyon Rd & Dehesa) you can either:\n
\\na) make a shorter route by continuing straight ahead on Dehesa Rd., heading back to the start via Dehesa and Willow Glen roads or\n
\\nb)turn left onto Dehesa Rd for your 2nd climb. This time you climb about 1100' in 3 miles. Like Crest, this to is a southwest facing grade and very exposed so can get quite hot.\n
\\n\n
\\nClimb Dehesa grade to Tavern Rd/Japatul Rd. Continue to the right (Japatul Rd) for another .3 mile. to Sequan Truck Trail (top of grade).\n
\\n\n
\\nRetrace route back down Dehesa Road to Sycuan Jct. (Harbison Canyon Rd.). Turn left at the jct. and return to the start via Dehesa and Willow Glen roads. From Sycuan Jct it's about seven flat miles back to the start.\n
\\n\n
\\nTime for the power workout portin of the ride.\n
\\n\n
\\nTypically there's a bit of a headwind (coming from the West) and can get strong. Don't let the wind stop you - hammer home! Push it here all the way back to the start for a really great all round workout!\n
\\nFor the 7 miles:\n
\\na) solo - try maintaining a 20 mph \n
\\nb) group - there are some nice shoulders on Dehesa and Willow Glen. Work a paceline maintaining a 24 mph avg.\n
\\n
