- This is a great hill workout because you get to repeat it. The shoulders are VERY wide and the truckers always try and make room for you. I am a very bad hill climber and starting from Heavenly, the first hill took me about 30 min (5mi) to get up (maybe 8%), then down a very fast descent (8mi) (watch out for the winds), then turn around at the intersection and back up. Going back west took me about 50 min. (approx 10%). FYI, I am not a good judge of climb gradients so take those with a grain of salt. Overall, a great 2 hr hill workout.
