- This would be a 5 star route if it weren't for the missing link between the Ballard Bridge and Myrtle Edwards Park, and the current lack of access to lower Queen Anne from Myrtle Edwards. The ride is virtually flat the entire way and is very scenic, with highlights of Lake Washington, Mount Rainier, occasional wildlife (even bald eagles!), the Locks and Puget Sound. There are only a few gaps where you are sharing the road with traffic rather than on bike trails, in Fremont, Ballard and Magnolia. I created this manually from memory using the satelite images so there may be a few areas that deviate from the actual route of the Burke-Gilman here and there but it's fairly accurate. I have also created two alternate routes: one that uses the Ballard Bridge instead of the locks to cross the canal, shaving 3 miles of somewhat treacherous street riding off the trip and the other route that saves over six miles but involves a climb directly over Queen Anne hill. Choose your poison... I hope someone else finds this useful, and thank you MapMyRide for creating this incredible tool and keeping it FREE!
