This loop starts and ends near the Cascade Inn/Craig Wood Golf Course Road. It is a great ride, taking about an hour to complete. Following a fast descent to the Ski Jumps, the route passes the horse show grounds before turning onto Old MIlitary Rd., headed toward Saranac Lake. There is a steep climb from the Chubb river folowed by rolling terrainwith good views of Whiteface on the right. The route turns back towards Lake Placid on Rt. 86, passing the Whiteface Lodge on left. Again good views of Whiteface are had in this stretch. Continuing into town, this route turns left around the back side of Mirror Lake, turning right on the opposite side of the lake at the Lake Placid Resort golf course which is passed on the left. The route intersects Rt. 86 again at Mill Hill where it turns left, headed to Wilmington. Once the height of land is reached near the intersection of Northwoods Rd, (Great Views along this section)a fast descent is had along the highway with some rollers tossed in before reaching River Road, where the route turns Right onto River road. Here the road follows the West Branch of the Ausable river where early morning riders will likely see some anglers trying their luck. The section is often cool in the mornings and quite refreshing. River Rd. joins Rt. 73 at the Olympic Ski Jumps, where the route turns left for a long climb back to the Cascade Inn. Great views are had looking south along the climb where Algonquin Peak of the McIntyre range, Mt. Colden and Mt. Marcy dominate the south horizon. <br> Enjoy!
