This is a beautiful ride!

This is a one-way point-to-point ride on the eastern side of the Sierras.

The entire route is on Highway 395, but the shoulders are wide for most of the route (at least they used to be).

Starting in Bridgeport (elev. approx 6500') the first 12 miles climbs 2000' (about 900' in a 2 mile section starting around the 9 mile mark).
This section you're heading west looking right into the high Sierras as your backdrop!!.

Once you've reached the top it's all downhill to Topaz Lake. For the next 8 miles you're decending in open mountainous country. Fantastic views west and east.

At about mile 20 you pickup the Walker River and enter a beautiful gorge and for the next 10 miles you're following the river in the gorge all the time you're continuing to decend - absolutely stunning scenery!! Noramlly I'd say it's time to hammer and it's hard to resist the temptation, but I urge you to take it easy through the gogre, it's well worth it!

Once you've exited the gorge, about mile 30, the road still decends, but at a much reduced rate - now it's time to hammer!! The last 7 miles are on flat road.
