- A civilized Century Ride covering small-town and rural riding on all types of roads: the St. Tammany Trace bike path, as well as asphalt and chip-seal back-country roads and highways. Excellent scenery with numerous horse farms and shady rest stops along the way. Hills on the northernmost part of the route, which is also less populated, so make sure you have plenty of water, etc. before embarking on Million Dollar Road (3 convenience stores within 2 blocks). Route returns you to the Mandeville Trailhead, after your triumphant finish on Lakefront Avenue along the North Shore of beautiful Lake Pontchartrain. The last miles are flat, but cross busy highways or are along city streets, so don't plan to record a PB on this route. Instead, enjoy the triumphant conclusion of your ride along Lakefront Avenue, and ease your way back to the Trailhead. An ice cream shoppe provides the opportunity to re-stock those burned calories. Ride this one with a friend and enjoy the scenery and good conversation.
