Start Location: Lyon Mountain American Legion: This ride begins in the hamlet of Lyon Mountain. approximately 35 miles west Of Plattsburgh. Lyon Mountain is a former mining community and has a long history of supplying high quality iron ore to the smelting industry, including having been specified as the preferred provider of ore to be used in the construction of the George Washington Bridge crossing the Hudson River. The Route heads down the south shore Of Chateaguay Lake and borders on the great northern forest of Clinton County, coming into the St. Lawrence Valley and crossing under modern wind turbines along and south of US. Rt. 11. It ends by cutting along the base of Ellenburg Mountain on the lightly traveled Bradley Pond Road. - a 40.4 mi cycling route in Dannemora, New York
