San Francisco - Pt Reyes - Tomales - Occidental - Guerneville
Very scenic route from SF to Guerneville. Takes advantage of bike trails through SF and southern Marin, takes SF Drake Blvd to join coastal Hwy 1, finishes with easy climb from Freestone to Occidental on Bohemian Hwy.\n\nIf you don\'t mind extra climbing I recommend a bypass - take Dillon Beach road west from Tomales and head north on Middle Road, less traffic and more scenic than Hwy 1.\n\nJoy Road bypass from Bodega Hwy up to Occidental is nice too, but much steeper and longer than Bohemian Hwy.\n\nThe bike lane alternative to Camino Alto extends from the end of the flat sections along the water starting in Sausalito. It climbs the hill next to the freeway, which is a bit noisy but you can ride the big ring. There\'s a convenient port-a-potty at the base of the hill, and it saves about 150 feet of climbing vs. Camino Alto.\n\nYou don\'t have to ride on SF Drake Blvd before Fairfax hardly at all if you follow the alternates laid out here.\n\nDon\'t miss the section of paved bike trail that starts in Samuel P Taylor SP campgrounds and ends up on Platform Bridge Rd. There\'s also a good 1 1/2 mile long fire road section from Lagunitas into the park, but I didn\'t take it this time.\n - a 82.9 mi cycling route in San Francisco, California
