Bayshore Bikeway April 2009
San Diego's Bayshore Bikeway. This route includes the new section opened in April 2009. This is a very flat ride separated from traffic for a large portion of the ride. There are many scenic (such as the Strand and the view into downtown) and some interesting (like the salt ponds and shipyards) sights along the way. There are Bayshore Bikeway signs to guide you along. The pathway is fairly well marked with the exception of the "32 marina" (I marked this intersection with a red checker). Traffic was very light on a Saturday Afternoon. This was very beneficial on the rough pavement in National City. We took the Ferry back to Coronado. Parking was easy and free at Coronado Landing. Thanks to SANDAG for the bike route. Hopefully more new sections are coming in 2010. Although I rated the surface average, Pavement is very rough in National City. It makes the downtown area feel like you are riding through butter. (http://www.sandag.org/index.asp?projectid=63&fuseaction=projects.detail) - a 23.9 mi cycling route in San Diego, California
