Recovery - Tour de Ballarat - Epilogue - Col de Belgrave 09/08/2009
Dissimilarly to the previous weekend's recovery ride to Mornington the day after the much-unheralded Tour de Castlemaine, this weekend, the Fat Git made as his recovery ride from the previous day's Tour de Ballarat a little jaunt out to Belgrave (and, eventually, by force of circumstances, part-way back.) Well, a "jaunt" to Belgrave is no "jaunt". Indeed, the ride is harder than the 100 km Ballarat ride. Apart from a couple of steep downhills that last as long as your average Aussie male%u2019s coital efforts [er, a tacky but chronologically accurate analogy], the whole ride is brutally uphill, from city to Belgrave, with some very steep bits in amongst the moderately steep bits. Happy to arrive at Belgrave, I was shagged %u2013 metaphorically only - and was pleased to see the train there. However, there were train disruptions and the bus dude wouldn%u2019t let me put the bike on the bus, so, I had to ride back to Blackburn station. That%u2019s enough bikery for the weekend! - a 40.4 mi cycling route in Belgrave, Australia
