In the past few months ive been running more and more trying to both generly get in better shape and try and prepare for a marathon/relay im going to run next year. I have no problem with motivation and am already runnin 3.5-4 miles daily without too much pain or trouble. Now the issue is that in the past week i have began running with my mom (who used to be intense but is out of shape now due to a injury in the past year) and while i love the company i have found that i cant run at my comfertable pace and havnt goten her any farther then 2.5 miles)
While i really enjoy the company i want to improve my own abilities at the same time. Should i wait it out till she catches back up to where she used to be (6+ miles) or should i run by myself some days and run with her on the easier days?
Also right now im still fairly sick, should i tone down my runs or continue with what im used to as long as im not in extreme pain?
Thanks everyone!
Another option would be to run the 2.5 miles with your mum and then do another couple miles on your own afterwards. Once or twice a week I run with a group of brand new runners, it's alot of fun but it's slow. So I sometimes run before and/or after and use the run with them as a cool down/warm up.
I think you should like you said just run the easy days with you mom
and about that cold definately take a few days off and let it clear up continuing to run just makes them worse
good luch with the relay
