First off, I'd just like to say that this is an excellent site, providing a really useful resource and I've been recommending it to everyone I know.
At the moment, I'm trying to build up distance in my runs. As such, it would be incredibly useful if I could record lots of small routes, and them compose them as needed into a larger route of the required length.
For example, I have a routes which add a mile (out and back) , half a mile etc and (since they all have points where they can connect), it would be very useful if I could just click on a point in my main run and choose 'insert route' to add in the extra mile circuit. This would let me build up variations in the route of 1 mile, 1.5 miles, 2 miles and so on, without having to re-plot the route every time.
Another thing that would be EXTREMELY helpful, would be the ability to do out & back on sections of a route. This comes up a lot on my routes, where I have a central point A, and then winding routes away from that and and back and then somewhere else and back eg
start
If I could just click on a previous point and choice 'back to here' and have it reverse the current route to that point, it would make things MUCH easier. In the above example I would just plot start -> A, A -> B then click A and choose 'back to here', plot A -> C then do 'back to here' again on A, then click on the start and do 'back to here' one last time.
I admit though, I realize that last step (figuring out A->start) might be really difficult without some sort of waypoint system, since the route probably can't distinguish the start -> A and A -> B segments in order to know just to follow the start -> A part in reverse, but that would be the ideal scenario :) If I could only have the ability to reverse 'current point' to 'previous point on that route' in some way, that would go a long way to helping my map these winding footpaths that google earth doesn't know about (so I can't do 'follow roads').
I'd look forward to reading any feedback you may have on these ideas.
PS If we can 'undo' actions, why can't we 'redo' them? I lot a big route this way :(
