Hi guys- as you know i am on vacation next week- starting friday. Amy/Colleen need to run a final 10 mile run and S- I think you are doing a 12 mile run. I spoke to A last night and she would like to get together and run this Saturday if you guys can coordinate that. She said she would respond and post and you guys can select a route. She may do a couple extra miles... I have scheduled meeting with Stacy and Amy to finalize the aid stations, collect any items you want to give to me prior to the race for those stations. Assign family members that may attend to those stations (if they want to), discuss meeting place on saturday, dinner location for friday... and any other details. Please rest up, no conserving when it comes to your nutrition- you have to fuel up... we can all go back to weight loss mode on oct 20th! if you are unfamiliar with the route, at least drive it so you can identify the aid stations for our people. also- amy is off work the week of the race and i would like to do our tuesday/thursday warm up runs together if we can manage it. amy/colleen- you usually run at night and stacy does morning. I can do anytime from about 6am-2pm, then it would have to be after my bootcamps at 730pm or later. i don't want to get anyone off their schedule, but we do run at 7am on race day.... so... we should probably do the morning. would that be ok? also i ordered a pacetat for amy and stacy for a 2:30 time and 5:00 time finish. colleen- if you have a goal time- i would like to get one for you, but haven't seen you due to your travel... let me know. also- dinner on friday... the time is tenative (we can go earlier) or not at all... it is up to you guys. thought we can go somewhere close by and keep it early so we can all get to bed on time. it might help to relax and calm nerves. but if you would prefer to spend that time at home, preparing, stressing etc! let me know- it is optional! I will check your posts and my email while on the trip and we can plan on meeting to run on tuesday. stacy- if you would like to post your route for the distance that day (3-5 miles? i think) we can plan to meet at the club at about 615am and go from there?? let me know and i will respond to everyone prior to then! GREAT JOB to everyone. Keep the advil on board, ice, rest, compression, elevation for all those sore spots up to the race. Keep on the ice baths if you are using them and don't do any high risk activities that can lead to last minute injuries. Get your sleep! Eat right! You have put in your time and we can just enjoy the last two weeks anticipating the race! julie
"and the final moment before the race everywhere is the same, and it is magical. the music, the anthems, the speeches, the cheers, and the chatter all cease, and at last the runners are silent. for runners, compulsively in motion, it is a unique moment of stillness. for 5 or 10 seconds everyone in that vast crowd looks silently inward and forward. all feel the premonitory glow, the flicker of readiness, like dry wood about to flare into flame. then the gun is fired. and the marathon begins." katherine switzer and roger robinson 26.2 marathon stories

hey Julie..I'm doing a trail race in Lawrence Sunday, the Sandrat run which is 9.5 miles on trails near the Kansas River. I probably won't run this Saturday unless it is just a easy 4 or so.
As for the race pace/finish time, I'mthinking for the 1/2 I should be realistic and therefore am looking at 2 hr 15 min or a pace of 10:18 or so. If I go faster that's great.
I am at the same mileage- but i will need to be back by 6:30. It is ok if I run by myself, i know it is really early. does anyone know if we can take our i pods? I have heard both yeas and no.
