    • New Design

    • I'd like to address some of the bigger picture items -- As the original founder of MapMyRun.com 3 years ago, this little site has come along way.

This site is built on the feedback of it's users and we've been struggling to get all this new functionality out the door -- most things you see on the site are a direct response from a user saying to us, "Wouldn't it be cool if ... ?"

One of the reasons it's been such a challenge is that it is expensive from a resource perspective to provide you these types of services.  Granted, a free site can be supported by advertisers however how much advertising would you as a user accept? Pop-ups? Interstitials?

This summer and fall we really want to focus on quality and the premium level of services we now feel you deserve.  We've been working really hard to get us to this level and we're continuing to work hard to do so.  We're responding personally to every single reported issue and we're working on some bigger performance things right now to ensure that your experience with the site is perfect.

If there are individual issues that you've noticed and you would like to comment on, I welcome your discussion.  If you would like a personal reply, please send it to us through our feedback system -- that way we can actively track and fix anything specific.

Many of the performance issues that we are working on are still due to people's client / browser situation.  ie, Do you have a slower connection? older browser? a firewall program that is blocking our mapping script from working?  We're actively looking at work-arounds to improve these issues...

Anyways, I just want to say that working on delivering the best experience for you is my number one priority.  I'm working closely with our technical team over the next week to ensure that any of this post-release issues are sorted out effectively.  If you have any questions about the transparency of this process, please don't hesitate to post them here or send them through our feedback...

      Cheers,

      -Kevin

    • Community Updates

    • byjeff@mmf on24 Oct 07
    • We released some updates to our community section today, and you should see some nice improvements.  The most immediate thing you should notice are the enhancements to the discussion listings on the group home pages.  As a result, group based discussions should be a lot easier to follow.

A great new feature we added is the ability to subscribe to a forum or discussion.  If you're logged in and viewing  forum page, you'll see links to subscribe.  When subscribed, you'll receive email updates when new posts are made in your subscribed section(s).

Enjoy!  As always, feel free to send us your feedback.

    • August and September has been pretty busy for us! First of all ... Thanks so much to all of those who have filled out our survey! We'll be posting the survey results soon after we get everyone's points doled out!

What else have we been up to?

New GPS / GPX Support! We've added optimization to better support the uploading of large GPX tracks. Members with large GPX routes should now see a great improvement in upload times. We've also added the ability to upload ZIP-compressed GPX files to speed up the process even more. For Garmin GPS members, we've released a preview of a new Web-based import tool. If you train with a Forerunner or Edge, we think that this new feature will improve your experience considerably. For more information or questions on this, visit the Garmin GPS Web Upload thread in our forums.

MapMyPoints -- This month we have 93 members who have accumulated enough points to earn valuable gift certificates and discounts from our partner Backcountry.com -- Backcountry.com is where you can find high end gear for hard core outdoor enthusiasts! We will be sending out email notifications to the 93 members, so keep your eye on your inbox!
Learn more about how you can earn more MapMyPoints!

      So what's next?

We're working on a bunch of new community stuff and some cool training log stuff.  We're hoping to release some of our 'Group' features soon, so if you are part of a club, or are affiliate with a speciality store, and would like to help us, drop us note!

Keep training strong and keep spreading the word!
